Aero India 2021 to be organized during Covid -19 Pandemic situation

Jan 28, 2021: Aero India 2021, the biennial air show and
defense exhibition organized by the Ministry of Defense is scheduled to be held from03 rd – 05 th Feb 2021 at Air Force Station, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. Aero India is the largestair show in Asia and attracts a large number of exhibitors from the world’s leadingindustries in the field of Military and Civil Aviation, Aerospace, Airport Infrastructure and
Defense Engineering.
The show includes both air displays and static exhibitions of alarge array of military platforms from the Aerospace sector.
Aircrafts have started arriving from today morning at Yelahanka Air force station for
participating in Aero India 2021. Today morning Bangalore Sky was filled with
thunderous sound of Rafale fighters, C-17 Globemaster, Apache attack helicopter,
Sarang Helicopter, Surya Kiran teams Hawk Mk 132, AN 32 turboprop twin-engine
military transport aircraft and other fighters of Indian Air force.
The major attraction of this year’s airshow will be combined display of Surya Kiran and
Sarang. Usually both the teams have performed individual displays and this will be first
time when both teams will perform in synchronization.
Sarang is helicopter air display team of the Indian Air Force that flies four modified HAL
Dhruv helicopters, also known as Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).
Surya Kiran is the Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force. The Surya Kiran Aerobatic
Team (SKAT) has performed numerous demonstrations usually with nine aircraft. The
squadron is composed of BAE Hawk Mk 132 and based in Bidar.
In Aero India 2019 unfortunate incident happened which involved Two Surya Kiran
aircraft which crashed on 19 February 2019 in Bangalore while practicing for Aero India
2019. Two pilots ejected safely and the third pilot Wing Cdr Sahil Gandhi succumbed to
his injuries as he could not eject.
Important Indian Air force new hardware on display will be Rafale fighters ( Today which
was visible in Bangalore skies and bearing tail numbers BS 001, BS 002 and BS 003),
AH-64E Apache Attack Helicopter (Inducted on 03 September 2019) and CH 47 F(I)-
Chinook heavy lift helicopters (inducted On 25 March 2019).
As per latest data available from Aero India 2021 website there are total 600 Exhibitors
out of which 522 are Indian exhibitors and 78 are foreign exhibitors from 14 countries.
