Dharmendra recalls the time when he wanted to be Dilip Kumar

Veteran actor Dharmendra was a heartthrob in the early days of his career. With back to back romantic hits in his kitty, he then transformed into an action king creating a unique space in the industry. But did you know that he aspired to be like Dilip Kumar?

In a post on his Instagram account, the actor gave a throwback to the early stages of his career with a black and white picture. He wrote, “Naukri kartaa cycle par aata-jaata, Filmy posters mein apni jhalak dekhta, Raton ko jaagta anhone khwaab dekhta Subha uthkar aaine se puchhta “mein Dilip Kumar ban sakta hun kya?”!! (I would travel on the cycle. I would imagine myself in the film posters. At night, I would dream big and in the morning, I would ask the mirror – Can I ever be Dilip Kumar?)”

Dilip Kumar’s filmography is surely an inspiration for all. From Devdas in 1955 to Saudagar in 1991, he has been entertaining the audience for decades and even now is a fan favourite.

Dharmendra will soon be completing his 60 years in the film industry. He has dabbled in movies of all genres, from the intense Bandini and Satyakam to potboilers like Raja Jani and Pratigya, and as a comic artist with perfect timing in Sholay and Chupke Chupke.

And by the way, not just Dharmendra, even Shah Rukh Khan had once expressed his will to be like Dilip Kumar.
