SC voices concern over abuse of social media platforms

The Supreme Court has expressed anguish over comments made in social media over judges’ observations and senior advocates’ arguments in subjudice matters.

The Apex Court also disapproved statements made by a senior advocate & ex-president of Bar Association on TV alleging that most of SC judges are pro-government.

The court cited former Supreme Court Bar Association President Dushyant Dave’s remarks that most judges are pro-govt.

Justice DY Chandrachud takes exception to Sr. Bar member criticising judges on social media. “They should sit in SC to see how govt is hauled up.”

Senior advocates Harish Salve and Fali Nariman told SC that social media is horrible and there is an urgent need to regulate it.
